MediaPortal Version: 1.1.3
MediaPortal Skin: StreamedMP 1.4.12.2620
Windows Version: XP SP3
CPU Type: Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4GB
Video Card: Radeon HD5670
MPEG2 Video Codec: ffdShow
MPEG2 Audio Codec: AC3Filter 1.63b
h.264 Video Codec: CoreAVC 2.0
TV - HTPC Connection: HDMI

Hi, I suddenly have a problem with MP. I've made no changes to my configuration, but today on starting neither XVid, H264 or any other video files will play through TV Series or Moving Pictures or Videos.

I updated my ATI drivers a week or two ago, but everything was fine after that, and that's the most recent change. I've uninstalled all codecs, uninstalled MP and all files, cleaned out the registry, resintalled video drivers, reinstalled MP, and tried the following:
- Using MPC-HC as MP's codecs. No joy.
- Reinstalled ffdShow and used that. No joy.
- Reinstalled CoreAVC and set that for H264. No joy.

Yet all files play fine in MPC-HC on VMR9. I can get things to play in MP if I set the renderer to EVR, but it's so dog-slow that it's unwatchable. VMR9 is fine in MPC-HC though, so I'm sure this is a MediaPortal problem. All files play fine using MPC's internal filters, and then when ffdShow, CoreAVC, and AC3Filter are installed. In Graphstudio it's showing just the filters that are in use, each directly connected. No apparent problems there.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get MediaPortal playing properly again?

Thanks.

SAF (Stand Alone filter) MP codec pack is your best bet, i would suggest that you download and try

Thanks, I'll give it a go although when I looked at SAF it appears it's just ffdShow with some extra utilities anyway. I don't get why MediaPortal itself would suddenly stop playing any video files, when other applications have no problems however.... It's just weird as it's worked flawlessly for ages.

SAF appears to be unavailable at the moment, so I'm trying the latest ffdShow on its own. Here's an extract of the log from MediaPortal:

It seems for some reason it's not loading the filters even though other applications do and show them connected fine with VMR9. Could this be something to do with the "external players" part? I'm confused by that as I've never changed MP to use an external player.

Curiously I can get XVids to play fine though MediaPortal's "Videos" UI, but not when going through "TV Series".

All ideas welcome :)

Hmmm. Fixed. I cleared everything down again and put it all back, and then finally reinstalled Haali splitter and all it now OK again.
