I had to replace my MP1 PC. Old one worked successfully 1.23 with latest Slow Ring Windows Insider. Have WD 5TB USB 3.0 drive for recordings.

Now problem. Replaced PC, updated to same Slow Ring Windows Insider and reinstalled MP 1.23, WMP 12, etc. All same software levels as old PC. Now I have a problem with watching TV or playing Recorded TV. When I do either the first time MP will only go back to TV screen (TV on, etc) or will only play for 2 to 4 seconds. The 2nd or 3rd or ... times I try it plays successfully. Everything else on MP works successfully. I did do the fix for DB on Music files. I tried Titan and DefautWide HD and have the same problem. These are dedicated single server systems. I reinstalled MP1.23 from scratch and added feature WMP 12 and same problem. I am using the same files on WD USB 3.0 drive after a successful Import. New TV Recording do the same thing. Both of the systems us the same closed captioning Core CC Parser.

Just to add the failing PC has a AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics with default settings.

If I play one of the .ts files outside of MP it plays successfully.

    Hi!

    The log files show...

    1. Play a recording:
    [2020-01-08 09:56:45,681] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - PlayRecording:D:\MediaPortal\Recorded TV\Sesame Street - OETA-HD - 2020-01-03.ts - using rtsp mode:False

    2. Playback starts:
    [2020-01-08 09:56:48,267] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - g_Player.OnStarted() D:\MediaPortal\Recorded TV\Sesame Street - OETA-HD - 2020-01-03.ts media:Recording

    3. Playback stops a few seconds later:
    [2020-01-08 09:56:51,401] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Main: Stop playback
    [2020-01-08 09:56:51,404] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - g_Player.doStop() keepTimeShifting = False keepExclusiveModeOn = False

    The reason playback stops...?
    MP receives a notification from Windows that an audio renderer (output) - presumably the renderer that was being used to play the recording - was disconnected/removed:
    [2020-01-08 09:56:51,401] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: Audio Renderer 4 - LG TV (AMD High Definition Audio Device) removed

    Another notification saying that the audio renderer is connected again is received a few seconds later:
    [2020-01-08 09:56:53,525] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: Audio Renderer 4 - LG TV (AMD High Definition Audio Device) connected

    (...and the cycle repeats:)

    MP can't play video without audio, and it can't play audio without an audio device connected. I'm not able to tell you why Windows is sending MP these notifications, though in my experience the notifications aren't uncommon shortly after initial system boot or resume (perhaps the OS has to hand-shake with the AV receiver or TV).

    There's only one possible workaround I'm aware of, and that is to disable "Stop playback on removal of an audio renderer" here:
    Startup and Resume Settings

    The "Stop playback..." setting defaults to "on" for safety (avoidance of crashes etc.). If disabling it appears to solve the problem then happy days. If it doesn't solve the problem, or you get crashes after disabling it, you may need to investigate different versions of drivers for audio devices (or video/graphics devices, in the case of HDMI audio) etc.

    Thanks for the quick response. I changed "Stop playback...." to off. The first time you play you can notice a pause in audio but then resumes successfully. The next time you play you do not have the pause. It appears this willl give me a good solution. I'll check on audio drivers and see if any have been updated (Windows thinks I'm current). I'll do more testing but for now things are OK. Thanks

    Hi,
    I had the same issue, after resume it stops the first time and also lost the current position and restarts from beginning. The curious is, it happens also after switching to a newer hardware (yet a Intel NUC 8i3).

    Thanks to all here, this issue is also solved for me :):)

    Hi all, I haven’t had a good look into this yet but I have a suspicion of what’s going on so I thought I would I'll describe here to see if anyone else has had this experience. I think its a bit of an obscure case, but basically a few days ago the HD on which I save my TV recordings had a meltdown (physical drive problems). I...
