Error Description:

MP is choosing wrong codecs when playing MPG files.

Initially My Setup was :
DVD - Cyberlink Mpeg and Cyberlink Audio
Video - Cyberlink Mpeg, CoreAVC H264 and ffdShow Audio
TV - Elecard Mpeg and Elecard Audio

In which case, all mpegs were using elecard to play it (under videos). Then for a while it worked when I had Cyberlink Video and ffdShow audio set in TV settings. But since yesterday, I am getting Cyberlink Video and Audio while playing MPGs.

Both Elecard (video and audio) is at Unlikely merit, Cyberlink Video and Audio is at Normal, and ffdShow at default (high hex value).

My real problem is, I have cyberLink set to SPDIF to use my SB Music onboard decoder; so if the mpeg do not have an AC3/DTS audio track, it doesn't play over spdif; thus I would want cyberlink to work only with DVD mode, and ffdShow for all video audio.

Tomorrow I will clear my configuration and try again. In the meantime, is this a known issue. I have found some links while searching, but all those seems to indicate that set movie codecs should def. work for MPEG files.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I have done several checks and the results are quite odd.

To start with, TV Codecs are still taking priority over Video Codecs (haven't tried to test DVD codecs yet).

With X-Fi XtremeMusic, I decided to whack all 16/24/32/32floating output on ffdShow; then there was one file caused problem which was cured by taking 32 floating out. With these output, MP used other audio codecs to play mpeg videos instead of ffdShow; both Zoom and GraphEdit used ffdShow successfully. Finally when I took 32 bit output off, MP started using ffdShow (finally)

TIP: If MP is not using ffdShow, check Supported output sample formats and try enabling only 16bit

So I can currently get around my problem; but would still like a fix where the Movie Player codec settings would be used.

I'm still configuring MP and working out the best config for me. I too have noticed that the codec as selected for TV is the one being used for a video I select in the Videos section.
In my case the video trying to be played is a .TS file recorded my WebScheduler.
