After changing the channel several times via the remote (up/down) the client freezes. According to the TaskManager TVService varies between 8 - 12%, MP client remains constant at 0%.

I attached all of the log files that were time-stamped in the vicinity of the freeze.

I tried installing SVN 12895 hoping it would help, but unfortunately my MP client (single seat) still crashes with a channel change. The only recovery is a forced reboot.

On two seperate boots I started MP via the desktop shortcut (from this point on I used the Hauppauge remote). When MP was started I selected 'MyTV' using the 'TV' button on the remote. After 30 seconds the video and sound appeared (why does it take so long?). Then I pressed the 'up-Ch' button on the remote. As soon as the change is complete, I press the 'up-Ch' button in a repeated loop.

On the first boot I was able go through 9 successful channel changes before the MP client froze. On the second boot, the MP client froze on the first channel change.

I notice you're using the MPV/MPA codecs. They are open source codecs which rely on the processor alone to handle the video processing, and therefore don't utilize hardware acceleration, which offloads a lot of the video processing power onto your video card. You should try out the Nvidia PureVideo codecs or the InterVideo codecs (download and install a trial to see if you like it). That should help alleviate some of the freezing you are experiencing.

My main concern right now is just getting MP to work the way it's supposed to work. I realize that the software codecs put a greater load on the cpu, but the server is only running at 8-11% when it's recording NTSC, so right now I don't have much incentive to use the HW encoder. As for the client, that's where my problem (freeze) lies. The hardware decoder is tied to the PVR-350 TV-Out port. And I'm using my desktop display so the HW decoder is out of the picture.

Besides neither one of these will solve the client freeze problem. And when I say freeze I don't mean stutter, I mean a real hard freeze that requires a three-finger salute (ctrl-alt-del) to recover. Once the system is relatively robust, then I'll start the optimization process unless of course there is a problem in one of the components then an alternative solution will be required.

I've had a few lockups the last few days.
Enough so that I've had to turn of the 'always on top' feature - as recovering when this is enabled is nearly impossible!

But I've not had a chance to debug this yet.
I've also been looking at a number of plugins that I've not tried before, so I guess it's possible any of those are responsible.
This is latest 0.2.2+SVNs (but *not* TVEngine3)

It's worth noting that before this last week my system had been pretty solid.
(I have it set to autoreboot each night which I think helps).

Regards,
BigJ.

After updating to SVN 12970 I tried again to check on the client freezes when the tv channel is changed. Here are my results:

Finally, after 31 successful channel changes (that's a record for me), the client froze up. However, this appears not to have been a hard freeze. After I had saved off all of the log files, I pressed the Power button on the remote and MP quit without a hitch.

After updating to SVN 13105 I tried again to check on the client freezes when the tv channel is changed. Here are my results:

After only 5 successful channel changes, the client froze up. This appears to have been a hard freeze. I even had to try multiple times to get TaskManager to terminate MediaPortal.

I am seeing this issue also. The stream plays fine but as soon as I move within the stream either forward, back, or change channel, there is a big pause (~1m) before the stream restarts and often causes the client to lock forcing a reboot.
