I think I've tried to be to ambitious and do too much in one go... I've put 2 DVB-S2 cards into my server, and installed the MP TV server. The cards scan fine for chanels, and grab EPG happily.
I then loaded MP Client onto two different PCs, and both show the same behaviour:
1. I can view the guide and EPG data
2. When I try to view a programme, the MP client freezes.

I've also tried to schedule recordings, but the recorded folders are empty.

As such, my assumption is that this is a server issue, not a client issue, but this is as far as I can work things out. Help please!

I've attached log files from both the server and the client machine.

Richard.

MP Client freezes when using TV server - This time with log files

This time with log files...

MediaPortalLogs_30_08_09.zip - client logs
logfiles.zip - server logs

(I've only submitted one of the client logs, as I assume that the error will be the same on both client computers)

Richard.

I've traced my problems back to the Technisat Skystar HD2 card. Depending on which driver I use, depends on what breaks!
The old drivers (1.1.0.402 and 1.1.1.302) do not scan for channels - they will go through the motions, but will not find anything. However, the new driver (1.1.1.502) finds all channels.
The old drivers sometimes will display in preview on the TV server and show properly on the TV client pc(s). Othertimes, they will give a graph error. The new driver will freeze the TV server program when I click on Preview, requiring me to kill the process.

The only workaround I seem to have is:
Install 1.1.1.502 driver and scan for channels. Uninstall driver, and install 1.1.1.302 driver. Reboot
Watch TV until I get the graph error. Reboot and try again.
Not the best workaound!

I've attached the log file from the 1.1.1.502 driver. It just stops dead and gives no indication of what might be freezing - the last line in the log file was 10 minutes before I killed the process.
Wierdly, when I use the client, it is the client that freezes not the server - which is odd, as it is caused by a driver issue on the server. Again, nothing in the logs helps.

Richard
