hi all,

i use mp tv server on an small business server 2008 and it works fine, i have several windows clients, they can use without problems television, but now i have a new workstation - an imac 10.5.7 (24" lcd, intel core 2 duo cpu 2.16 ghz, 250 gb sata hdd, 2 gb ram, nvidia geforce 7600gt 256 mb).

i read in some threads in this forum, that some user use parallels with windows virutalised on mac osx, cause directx runs on parallels / mac.

i try some directx games and install mp - this works fine.

than i start musik, videos, pictures - all works fine.

but after starten tv, it doesnt work, i change from vmr9 to evr - now i see that the stream starts and can her the sound, but the screens stay black.

i open vlc and start the stream, it works fine (sound and video).

than i use my working system from the kitchen, this works very good, so i use the parallels transporter to move the real system in an vm, but i have the same problems. i get every time sound, but cannot see the videos.

what can i do? i spend many hours for testing, but i get no result?!?

please help me.

Sounds like DirectX emulation is not 100% working. I would ask Parallels developers for help. Also posting MediaPortal logs could pin point the issue.

Most likely it is caused by the fact that emulation is always emulation, not real HW and has slight differences.

has anybody mediaportal running on parallels?

Hi, I just tested MP on my MacBook Pro with parallels (the bootcamp partition is a Vista ultimate) and without success....
Each time I start the MP, it tells me that my driver does not implement full Direct3D features, then it will switch back to another one, slower, but with full implementation.

Then a second box informs me that nothing will be rendered, becaus edriver is too slow... Both are mediaportal. At last, I have just an empty window with menu bar. Tha is all..

I opened a ticket for my Parallels Destop 4,0, but the only reply I had is that mediaportal is not supported, and only the application listed on the parallels site are working on Parellels. Just replied to them I were not fully agree, and it is a shame they do not try to point out what is the problem.

MP on bootcamp start is working fine....

So at least you went futher than me.

i change in the mp settings to evr (cause there was errors in dvrm9), with this i can see videos, pictures, musik and so on, but no tv (via stream).

with videos i can watch recordings (via smb, not rtsp).

but the problem is not the rtsp, cause with vlc i can open the streams without any problems (e.g. rtsp://server/stream1.0) .

i hope you can use with this informations a little bit more from mediaportal.
