This has happened twice now and it's rather frustrating as I have no clue where to even start. Just as the title of my thread suggests. First time this happened was Monday night. We watched Chuck on NBC and then I set MP to record Heroes. At this time I switched over to my Satellite dish to watch something else but left MP running. When I flipped back to the PC, I found a nice little MP error saying it encountered a problem and needed to shut down. I thought it was because I hadn't installed the DVB Hotfix yet, so I installed that and tried to record something and watch the same channel and it happened again. Not sure if this matters but on both occasions when I rebooted, I got a DEP error for "generic host process for win32 services"

Please help! I only have a few more days until my Dish Network service isa shut off and I need this to be reliable!

Thanks in advance!

Ok, this is starting to annoy me...

CLEAN install. There is nothing on the PC other than items required to run Media Portal. Same thing AGAIN last night.

Disable all the extra plugins, see if it works then, ie moving pictures\TVSeries both at sometime have caused MP to crash, but nothing in logs to indicate such.

The other thing could be have you got epg grabbing enabled, try disabling that and see what happens.

Thank you very much for the reply and suggestions. I'll try killing the plug-in's and give it another go.

I think I have epg grabbing turned off now. I disabled it on the hdhr in tv server. Are there any places in the MP config itself I should check too? The interesting thing this time that was different is that it crashed before the recording started and it actually completed the record process.

I don't have any new logs to post this time unfortuneately, it seems that mp deleted them from yesterday when I restarted it this morning. I'll see if I can make it do it again tonight.

One other bit of info is that I'm running a single hard drive with a single partition. Don't know if that could be the problem or not.

Well I didn't even have to test anything. When I got home from work, my wife told me that the Media PC had crashed. NOthing was set to record. It just up and crashed this time. Same results as the above logs, only this time I also looked in my system event viewer and noticed that .net framework crashed at the exact moment MP started generating oddities in it's log.

Ok.. I don't know if this is a bug or what it is.... I stumbled across this post when I searched for the error I was getting from the system logs...

I can confirm that when the HDMI connection goes dead on my PC, that MP will in fact crash if live tv is left running... It doesn't happen immediately, but it will crash. When I switch back to HDMI the video is all sorts of choppy and there is no sound. Stopping live tv and resuming returns everything to normal.

This should be relatively easy for the dev's to replicate and determine if it's an ATI driver issue or MP issue.

Indeed looks like audio driver is disabled / missing.

0x88780078 == DSERR_NODRIVER == No sound driver is available for use

Here's a patched core.dll (based on current SVN release, sorry cannot build 1.0 compatible core.dll at the coment.). MediaPortal should now stop live tv when it receives the missing driver notification. Hopefully this solves the crashing (not sure even where the crash happens, could be audio codec... I cannot reproduce the issue locally).

Thank you VERY much. I really like this application, I just wish I could get all of my bugs worked out.

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's finding ways to break things!
