I'm banging my head against the wall here. MP seems to do one of 3 things on startup:

1. Hard crash - system reboot
2. Bluescreen on nv4_mini.sys
3. Launches, but doesn't display anything, though seems to capture keystrokes and mouse clicks (I can hear the MP sounds when I click around). Alt-F4 closes this and returns me to my desktop.

Note that these issues only occur when starting in fullscreen mode. Starting windowed works fine, however if I fullscreen it (Alt-Enter) the window never redraws properly.

Configuration.log, MediaPortal.log and error.log attached. Note that these files came from the 3rd condition above. On the first or second condition, no error.log is generated, but they definitely all seem to be related.

I've tried reinstalling the nvidia driver. This is a totally clean build of XP, so the only codecs in place are what MediaPortal dropped there. I don't even have any multimedia files on this box yet, so it's not trying to play anything.

Any other files I or debug info that I could grab that might help?

Hi, I'm facing the same problem. If I set MP to startup in full screen the computer crashes (sometimes it BSODs and other times it just reboots). If it is set to start windowed then there is no problem. I can subsequently switch the app to full screen and it works fine.

The motherboard/memory/skin is identical to the OP except the CPU is slightly slower and my remote is the Microsoft MCE one.

Please advise.

Thanks

hi! I'm facing the same problems. ATI X1250 onboard graphics adapter; AMD64 X2 4000+, clean Windows XP SP3. Noremote control attached, using the latest drivers I got for this adapter.

99.99% of the time BSOD is caused by broken hardware or messed up drivers.

Seems you are right. With newest drivers for southbridge and graphics adapter (from the ati website) it works flawlessly. I used the latest driver from the ASUS website before (as I'm using an ASUS barebone), but they seem to be outdated.

    Thanks
