Does other video work? (Your video card doesnt meet the minimum specs)

Yes every other file format plays great. MPG, AVI, DVDs, etc. In fact the TV has worked fine before at some point along MP's dev path, and this is a clean installation, so I don't know what's changed.

The first thing that you should try is to use a different video card, as Nvidia Geforce4 MX 4000 doesn't support VMR9.

Wish I knew that before I bought it... Ah well it was only like $45. What video card would you recommend - my only other requirement is I need tv-out on it.

    Synopsis::

Alright I replaced my video card with what the wiki describes as a card that is compatible - the GeForce FX 5500. The box says it's DirectX 9 compatible but I have no clue as to where the settings are for switching between overlay and whatever vmr9 is... MP is still crashing any time I try to view a dvr-ms file or view tv or playback a recording. Below are my logs. Please help!

    exception.log
    error.log
    mediaportal.log

Could you give us some more clues - it looks like you have been using MediaPortal for a long while now, so has this problem only recently appeared?

If so, what has changed recently that might have caused the problem?

Do you get the same error with the default BlueTwo skin?

These problems only recently happened when I made a clean install, where previously I had been just updating my installation with the latest svn's. I thought the same as you that it might be the skin, so I did test it out with BlueTwo and it crashed just the same. I know I've been told here that the MX 4000 isn't supported, but to be honest it was working fine before I did a clean install. Do you think it would be worthwhile for me to post this bug in the test-team forum with all the proper documentation or is this some kind of hardware config problem thats confined to just my setup?

EDIT: Before it's asked, yes I have updated to MP 2.0.3 and it still crashes.

I am guessing that this line is an indicator of your problem:-

    Code:
7/29/2006 12:11:07 PM GUIWindow:OnWindowLoaded id:6 ex:Object of type 'MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUIFadeLabel' cannot be converted to type 'MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUIImage'. at System.RuntimeType.CheckValue(Object value, Binder binder, CultureInfo culture, BindingFlags invokeAttr)

But I have no idea what it means...except that there is a reference to "MediaPortal.GUI.Video.GUIVideoOverlay" - hence my query about trying other skins :?

However, it first seems to occur at the point where MP is loading plugins - try disabling all your plugins (the ones you have added) and see if that helps?

You could do that, but I think that this problem is confined to your setup.... :(

Well the only plugin I added was the Zap2It plugin... I disabled it and tried again and get the same result. Thanks for the advice on this, I'll report it to the test team to try and narrow down what is causing this, since I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my setup.
