I am setting up MP on a second system at home. For this one I am using TVE2, but the hardware specs are similar to my main system. The problem I have is that MP Config crashes when I try to add vizualisation effects in Music setup. I get the following detailed error message:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall MP and even copying the mpviz.dll from my working system, but the problem persists. Therefore I think we can rule out a corrupt dll, but I have no other ideas.

I would be grateful for any help :)

I had the same problem now fixed

Go to my computer->system properties->advanced->performance
and select best appearance

then enable any windows service that might have been disabled for better performance

it worked for me

Thank you helius, but it didn't work for me. I should have mentioned also, that I am trying to configure visualizations in 0.2.3 RC3, but the same problem every time.

I am afraid I have the same problem with RC3 on yet another PC. Good that the Now playing screen is quite nice, but it would be great to have visualization too...

    Hi,
    - are you running a XP light version with services disabled for better performance?
    - & is your XP up to date with all updates from windows?

    regards

    1) No, I have let XP choose the settings, which is mostly for best appearance. (I even tried optimize for best performance, but it didn't make any difference.)
    2) Yes. I have automatic updates turned on and I have also searched through the windows update site.

    Rgds,

hwahrmann has fixed this error. Until it is in the next official Build you can Install the
C++ 2005 Redistributable Package from Microsoft to fix this. (please search Google for a Download Link)
