MP first Install - doesn't start (1 Viewer)

Hi there,

i'm a MP newbie and would like to try it out.

As of now i don't have any tv cards in my htpc but want to watch movies and listen to mp3 and streams.

I dl'ed MP 1.0, installed it with no probs BUT when i first launch MP.exe, it asks me to go through the configuration.
Two windows are popping up:

the MP config splashscreen in the background and a dialog to select which type of configuration i would like to do, normal or advanced. By selecting either one of them and clicking "next", nothing happens. It even crashes and forces me to reset vista because nothing is clickable anymore.

So i uninstalled everything and installed it again with TV support but no change.
I tried various install options without luck.

Does anyone has a tipp what is going wrong here?

Hi there

Can you please verify if any logfiles are updated before your system hangs:
after reboot, go to C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log\ and see logfiles date/time. Post them here if you find them.

its been a while but finally i found the time (and nerves to do some more investigations:

MP still freezes Vista at the config Splashscreen.

For testing purpose, i installed MP on my vista notebook (same settings) and it worked. Ok, since i installed MP on my htpc and notebook with the same settings and directories, i copied the working notebook installation to my htpc and gave it another shot:
Guess what, it doesnt work. Still freezes at the splashscreen. :-(

This means, there is something wrong on my htpc vista, right? Some service not running? Missing dependency although on installation MP says "no action" on directx, etc.

I completely uninstalled MP after theses testings and reinstalled from scratch:
