Hi,

I am new to using MP as I was fed up with the rubbish EPG with WinTV 2000, and I like the way MP is sililar to sky by being able to setup recording a program on on one channel whenever it appears for example.

But I just read that MP needs to be running for it to record programs, whereas i was used to the Hauppauge Schedular doing that for me.

Is this true, and if so its there any way around it?

Thanks

Yes it must be running, no there isnt anyway around it. Its designed as a HTPC application so as to be run on a dedicated box.

A recording service has been planned for future release but its distant at best.

Thats a shame as I will probably forget to run it when I need to!

Do you know what idle cpu is when MP is running but the TV is not on?

And also is it able to run MP just in the notifications area and not the task bar itself?

Check the configuration -> General settings. There are a pair of options to put MP in the system tray on exit.
