Okay so this is an interesting one... Have done a fresh install of MP1.02. Was having TV issues and have resolved them. Could go back to the old Ghost to be honest, might have to if I can't resolve this one...

Computer will no longer stand-by... It seems that something from with in MediaPortal is taking the display as MCE Standby Tool MST states clearly. "One or more program(s) requires the display(s)"

This has never been a problem.. Basically I can recreate this from a fresh boot, as soon as I do any activity in MP for instance just going to Music or any thing it will grab ownership of the display and not let go... And Wola stuck with a computer that will not put it's self to sleep... I have tried disabling all my plugins (windows and process) with no prevail. Had never had this problem before and certainly have no idea why I'm having it nwo....

Any one? I want to have a smaller carbon footprint :D

Are you using 4TR? If so, go to MP Configuration-> Plugins-> 4TR plugin-> config and see if "Only allow client to enter standby on home screen" is checked.

Yes I use 4TR and yes I have it checked... As I said I disabled all plug-ins and it still would not go in to standby... But thanks none the less...

I have the same problem. "Forced shutdown" is activated. But it happens nothing if I press the "Hibernate" button (neither on the remote control, nor in the menu). Does somebody know a solution?

The point is, that if this is checked, it will NOT go into standby UNLESS you are on the home page. I'm not clear though if "disabled all plug-ins" means 4TR as well, but (if you haven't already) try leaving MP on the home page and seeing if that works.

Otherwise, does the process requiring the display only do this occasionally, or all the time? There's another no-standby issue in another thread, where the user says that SQL keeps popping up and taking the display for some reason. You could try monitoring Task Manager-Processes to see if you have the same symptom.

    ----<LATER>----

OK, I'm thinking I too have a Standby problem now. I'm cross-posting this from the 4TR forums (see also: For The Record - View topic - Anyone out there who successfully uses standby with 4TR?! )

Doing the thing that I had suggested earlier, with Task Manager and MCE Standby tool in parallel, I see my "System Idleness" value turning red every so often (I get NO red in the "requires" fields though). I do see that sqlserver pops up on the processes list around this time also, but not accurately enough to say that this IS the culprit for sure - and sometimes it pops up without resetting the timer.

But, hmmm, yes, something is not right here.

I also get this same problem as described here - odd as it sometime will S3 and wake up no problem, at other times it won't S3..?
