I initially set-up my EPG grabbing to grab only from selected channels, and only for selected channels, not really understanding the implications. That lead to the problems that were described in the thread that mm mentioned (now fixed with help from mm :)). For Freeview I would suggest this approach: (1) Google for a utility called "ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe". You should be able to find somewhere to download it. If not, I have three different versions that I can let you have. Run this utility from the command line when none of the tuners is in use. The utility will scan the entire DVB-T/T2 spectrum, and display details about the MUXes that you can receive at your location (which will be different from the ones that I can receive). The utility will also display the channels that are broadcast in each MUX (except for the DVB-T2 MUXes). (2) For each MUX, choose one channel that you know is broadcast 24 hours per day. I would pick channels from the major broadcasters, i.e. ones that are less likely to cease broadcasting in 6 months time. Then, in "TV Server Config", select to grab from those channels, and deselect the option to grab only for selected channels. With that combination, MP will grab the EPG for all channels in each MUX, both TV channels and radio channels. (3) In the other thread, mm suggested that it might be possible to pick only one channel to grab the EPG for all MUXes. I have not tried this, but it might work. However: (a) You would have to pick a channel in a DVB-T2 MUX (e.g. "BBC One HD"). This is because the EPG broadcast in the DVB-T MUXes does not include the EPG for the HD channels, but the EPG broadcast in the DVB-T2 MUXes does include the EPG for the SD MUXes (at least, I think that that is how it works). (b) When I tried Windows 7 Media Center for a few days some time ago, I found that it would often populate the EPG for the MUXes that you were tuned to quite quickly, but not populate the EPG for channels in other MUXes. This may be a result of the way that the EPG is transmitted in the UK -- each MUX favours its own channels, and broadcasts the EPG for those channels much more frequently than the EPG for channels in other MUXes. So, if you opt for the "single channel for all MUXes" solution, you might find that the EPG for some channels takes a long time to populate (because those channels are in MUXes that you do not often watch or record). -- from CyberSimian in the UK
