Since upgrading to 1.0.1 I can no longer play any videos. Never had an issue with 1.0.0. I've tried a complete wipe and re-install but still get the same issue. All videos report "Unable to play: <filename> Video Codec: divx Audio Codec:mpeg-1 audio layer 3".

To be clear the *only* thing that changed was MP101. Absolutely nothing else. I've been through the config tool and tried all available video codes with no joy.

Also, TV is utterly broken as well. Sound but no picture :-(

Cheers,
Mike

Actually, can anyone post links to where I can find the original V1 release. 101 has proved to been a disaster and I would like to least have something working again.

All I can find on the download page is 101 :-(. And before anyone suggests corrupted video files, this is happening with well over 300+ vids of different shapes/sizes/codecs. *NOTHING* wants to playback under 101 here :(

Cheers,
Mike

    Hi,
Seems like you have subtitles enabled in MP Config -> Movie section & no vs filter which causes graph to fail.

MP 1.0 can be found here (All packages are on SourceForge)

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have subtitles enabled.

If I go to Videos->Subtitles/Audio the "show subtitles" box is definitely unchecked. Looks like the logfile (or the config tool) is lieing.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I had the same problem, upgraded from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 and suddenly "unable to play" for every video file I tried. A workaround is to enable EVR (and disable VMR9) in the config (DirectShow Filter Control -> Video Renderer Settings).

I am having the problem too. Video plays fine when using an external player but as soon as I press stop, there is a scrolling message to say "unable to play" etc

I have / had the same type of issue. I have separate tv-server machine (singleseat install) running XP pro and a client machine running Vista. Both were 1.0 RC1 or RC3. I recently updated the client to 1.0.1 and since that went extremely well (minus epg), I decided to update the server machine as well. This turned out to be a major mistake. The updated client could play recordings just fine from the older server, just the epg did not work. The updated server on the other hand serves the epg perfectly, but I can no longer play recordings or live tv. Attempting to play recordings gives a message: "Unable to play. Audio Codec:", which is odd, since codecs are just fine and everything worked before I updated the server. Second mistake I made was to try to do a complete cleanup and reinstall the client just in case. Now it requires administrator privileges to run and hangs when I try to play recordings or watch live TV. No error messages. At least the singleseat-server still plays recordings, it's just unusable due to its location.

Same here, except that I have upgraded the server, and 2 clients without issues. Just 2 others (Identical machines - Dell D600 Laptops) suffer the issue.

Maybe an incompatibility with the particular video driver? These have Mobility Radion 9000 Video cards.

Unable to play movies, or recorded shows on these two only.....

Both of them required the MS DirectX updated, as well as the MS Visual C++ 2008. Though this happened also on the other clients.

Uninstalling and reinstalling 1.0 does not fix the issue.

    Thanks

managed to get them both working again (ver 1.0.0 that is) by uninstalling MS Visual C++ 2008......

Seems my Dell's dont like it for some reason.

Anyone else there have the same issues?

    Thanks.

Seems that I have a HP desktop that had the same issue - with a twist...

Live TV/Recorded TV OK, just wont play and videos/files (tested eith divx files only).

Downgraded Media Portal to V 1.0.0, still not working. Removed C++ 2008 Redist, and still not working.

Only did a Standard Uninstall though. Will try a complete uninstall and let you all know
