For some reason AAC audio files won't play for me in MediaPortal, either by themselves or as a part of a video file. On the same PC they play fine in Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player 11 without any problems or extra configuration. I have no idea what it could be :( Any ideas?

MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC1
Windows Version: XP Pro 32-bit
Sound Card: On-board Realtek connected to a 5.1ch amp via optical
MPEG2 Audio Codec: ffdshow-tryouts

I am having the same problem in 0.2.3.0 final, with AAC files and the same files with an MPEG4 header (.m4a). I use the Haali Media Splitter and ffdshow for playing these files (in WMP) and it works. But in MediaPortal the files are skipped when I try to play them.

I did manage to get it working.. but only after re-installing MP a couple of times. Still don't know what the exact problem was!

Try a clean re-install and see if it helps.

Or check your codecs with filmerit.

And if you want less config hassle use Vista codec pack, reguarly updated by shark007 over at the mce forums, uses latest versions of everything, including ffdshow.
