Hi, I guess the title tells it all,
The point is, the files play well in WMP, but dont start in MP
It seems that not graph is built (Graphedit sees no graph), I do not want to select ffdshow as Movie Player, because the quality is better (subjectively) with PDVD.
Is there something I can do?

    cheers

.mp4 ffdshow is the only consistant way of playing these files i have found, these were encoded using Nero Recode.

Must admit, no quality issue with this.

Maybe you need to change some of the settings.

I am using the Vista codec pack, so somethings have been customised in that.

    ok,
I thought, that Mp would pick ffdshow for mp4 files automatically, but it seems that it doesn't.
What you say is: I should pick ffdshow as Movie Player in MP, right?

    cheers

Nope i have cyberlink pdvd7 as codec, FFDShow just kicks in for certain filetypes when needed.

As i said this may be down to the codec pack i use being preconfigured.

Did you select filetye on install, also on the ffdshow tryouts install it gives a option to limit which players can be used with it, select the unlimited.

just uninstall and reinstall or try the codec pack, covers just about every video format going, and so far has not screwed up the rest of my system (6 months)

Here's the link for codec pack if you want to try it.

MediaPortal will choose the highest merit filter for the MediaSubtype being presented by the demuxer if the H.264 decoder (configured) is not the correct one to use here for the .mp4 file.
