Hello,

I have got a concern with the MPC-HC Engine. I begin to back up my blu-ray and I use the software MakeMKV, this software allow to keep the movie, the audio and the subtitles.

When I watch the result in MPC-HC, it is just fine. I can turn off the subtitles, switch to an other one ... But in MP it does not work. During playing, I can switch it, it appears in the bottom of the screen (with blue3wide skin) with the name of the subtitle, but the subtitles does not display.

I am not sure but when I analysed the mkv file with mkv merge, the type of subtitles is HDMV/PGS.

Thanks for your help.

Guillaume

I think you will find that the subtitles are in SUP which is not supported.

If this is the case, you will need to extract the SUP subtitles using MKVextract, convert the subtitles to SUB (I use BDSup2sub.jar) and then mux the new converted subtitles by using mkvmerge.

Note that some older versions of MKVextract do not support SUP, just download the latest MKVtoolnix.

Ah OK, I thought as this kind of subtitle can be watched in MPC-HC, then by using the MPC-HC engine for the subtitles, it will be able to activate it in MP also.

My understanding is that it was added to the MPC subtitle engine recently. The version we are using is from before this update so would need some work to get that incorporated into MP

I believe this is a feature request not a bug but need a dev to confirm....
