MPEG4 MP4 MPEG-4 -- Definative Solution? (1 Viewer)

I've read a couple other posts offering suggestions. I found it easy to use QuickTime and a very old version of MediaPlayer -- but for the life of me I cannot find an ALWAYS WORKS solution to playing mp4 files through MP.

You're using the wrong version... There are some of them available, only 1 supports PureVideo. Be sure you bought the correct one from their website.

So if you did not buy PowerDVD with H.264 (AVC) and AAC Pack, it's just bad luck.

The link you give is about PowerDVD6. I think PDVD6 allowed for its directshow filter to have acceleration enabled (or at least through some registry tweak, not sure), but PDVD7 (again, I think) does not.

Anyway, DMAN & me have it running, so it definately works with very, very, very low CPU usage. Means: Fully accelerated by PureVideo. As stated by NVIDIA on their HD info page.

Sorry to sound stupid but you mean you have it running from inside MP? (i.e. use PDVD codecs?)

I thought purevideo is an mpeg2 video/audio decoder.
If so then purevideo shouldnt make any difference if you play mpeg4 files right?

I have NVIDIA purevideo Decoder v1.02.233 which i think its the latest one and when i play MPEG2 enocded files/DVDs it does an excellent job in PQ as well is in CPU load.

But with mpeg4 avi/xvid files the purevideo decoder is not running.

am i missing something here?

PowerDVD 7 has PureVideo HD in it that also decodes H.264.
