I found some threads about the aspect ratio problem with this codec but i wonder some ppl use it anyway.
E.g. infintyloop using a 16:9 tv and mpv as mpg codec. Did you find a way to solve the problem or do you just live with it?

Side-step the problem: don't use it! Use DScaler, or any other codec you may have on your system. I see you have PureVideo... why are you even fooling with MPV in the first place?

Still searching for my own best mpg2 codec and if there would have been a solution i would give it a try.
But as it looks like there is no "fix" it wont.

I prefer to look at it this way: although those of us with widescreen displays KNOW it's "broken" for those novices who are just breaking in to the digital world, having MPV handed to them as a FREE codec gets them going with no investment.

YES, I agree it's frustrating and more than confusing for the "novice" to get a handle on. And, I support your attempt to get it fixed so as to help the novice user. I don't really find differences between PureVideo and PDVD7 that would cause me to WANT one over the other, have you? If they do a good job decoding, no interlace issues, and use hardware accel to lower the CPU% then I'm happy. What are your criteria and findings?
