Hi,

are there any experiences with the MSI TV@nywhere E-Duo? MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more

I currently have a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 which I want to replace with another dual DVB-T card to get rid of S3 issues. Since I'm planning a new case in the new future I require low profile. This rules out the Cinergy 2400i and leaves me with KWorld, Technotrend, AverMedia and MSI. The first three I have some reservations because there are mixed reviews. For the MSI I don't find any review at all, but generally I didn't have any problems yet with MSI mainboards or video cards.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Or did I miss a good PCI-E Dual DVB-T low profile card?

Cheers,

AW: MSI TV@nywhere E-Duo - is it any good?

So I answer myself:

I got the a.m. card. Media Portal had no problems detecting it. S3 is no issue anymore, a restart of TVService after resume is the only thing required to make it work.

I was running the MSI and the Hauppauge card for some time in parallel. From my observations the Hauppauge card may have a little better reception and a little better picture quality, but I wouldn't say for sure. For sure it wasn't significant enough to return the MSI card, so I got rid of the Hauppauge and am happy now.

To someone who's not interested in S3 I would probably still recommend the Hauppauge Nova-T 500.

Cheers

Just curious, what was the S3 issue? Is it common to other Hauppauge cards? Ordered HDR-2200 so I'm a bit worried

The problem with the T500 was the onboard VIA usb controller did not like S3, the tuners themselves worked fine as did the full usb version which used pc's internal usb controller , as yours is full pci-e, there are no issues.

Have just ordered my Black and Gold BGT3595 an pci-e x1 card which starts shipping in a week or so. Its dual DVBS/S2 Dual DVB-T Dual Analogue with line in.

Previous versions had good reviews. Pricey at £130 odd, but it replaces 4 PCI cards, and gives DVBS2 and 2 satellite channels. It has been anounced for about 6 months so I am hoping....

I'll let you know if its any good once deployed. Still have the 500 but found it no good because of the S3 problems.

Weird really, although I have experienced issues in the past, these have been graph related, as in a change in the way graph was released on both tuners properly, otherwise the 20 second delay and reinitiliase tuner always worked for me.

This is a bit more deep seated hardware wise, just think some motherboards did not like the Via usb controller at all.

Interested to see how you get on with the blackgold, are they now releasing it to normal vendors, or have you got access to oem ;)
