For some reason, the scanning of channels doesn't work?? I don';t know why. the card is indeed listed and such under the tv server, but when i try to scan for cable / antennae channels... it simply spams the list box " no source " for each channel it tries to scan.

I'm not sure, but it's like mp isn't initializing the card at all. I've no clue where to find the logs, or what particular logs you would need, if in fact it's saving logs.

Has anyone had this problem, or has anyone actually gotten this card to work with MP..

I searched the threads thoroughly but all i found was a lot of posts with no replies when it came to this card.

Any help would be most appreciated :D :D

ok.. so i looked, and in the 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\CaptureCardDefinitions.xml' file, this card is listed. However, if i use the tv server, it doesn't work, shows the card, but won't scan channels... if i don't use the tv server thing, the configuration program tells me that no card was found, and i won't be able to configure one....

i'm not sure what to do here, what information can i give you that will help you help me?

ok.. not sure.. maybe it's a naming thing... but the card that is listed in the TV Server configuration is :
" 1 Analog MSI 8606 Tuner "

but the card listed in the cpturecarddefinitions.xml file is for the " MSI TV@nywhere_Master "

it's the same card, but maybe it's a naming thing causing the issue...

this is what is in the " configuration-1-MSI 8606 Tuner.xml " file located in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\AnalogCard\Configuration-1-MSI 8606 Tuner.xml:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<configuration version="1">
	<card cardId="1" name="MSI 8606 Tuner">
		<device>
			<path>@device:pnp:\\?\stream#cx88tune#3&amp;17e9630&amp;0&amp;0#{a799a800-a46d-11d0-a18c-00a02401dcd4}\global</path>
		</device>
		<qualityControl>
			<customSettings value="50" peakValue="75" />
			<playback mode="0" type="1" />
			<record mode="0" type="1" />
		</qualityControl>
	</card>
</configuration>

this is what is in the
'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\CaptureCardDefinitions.xml' file for my particular card...

Code:
<capturecard commercialname="MSI TV@nywhere_Master" capturename="Conexant 2388x Video capture" devid="ven_14f1&amp;dev_8800&amp;subsys_86061462&amp;rev_03">

        <filter cat="audencoder" name="%audioencoder%" checkdevice="false"></filter>
        <filter cat="mux" name="%mpegmux%" checkdevice="false"></filter>
      </filters>
      <connections>
        <connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="%tvtuner%"></connection>
        <connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="tvaudio" sinkpin="0"></connection>
        <connection sourcefilter="tvaudio" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="%audiotuner%"></connection>

        <connection sourcefilter="audencoder" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="mux" sinkpin="1"></connection>
      </connections>
    </tv>
  </capturecard>

also... if i look at my hardware > device manager > sound, video and game controllers > MSI 8606 Tuner properties
go to details and select from the drop-down list Hardware Ids i see that my revision is different:

you have in the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml for my card:
Code:
ven_14f1&amp;dev_8800&amp;subsys_86061462&amp;rev_03

what i see in the hardware ids list is:
Code:
stream\CX88Tune#PCI#ven_14f1&dev_8800&subsys_86061462&rev_05

card now working.. remote isn't, neither is radio, but the tv portion of the card is...

This card will not work with Tv Server, you have to install witht he integrated tv-engine plugin thinggie...

also, change the card's definition in the xml file to reflect your revision, the definition in the current XML is rev_03, i had to change it to rev_05 on this line

Code:
<capturecard commercialname="MSI TV@nywhere_Master" capturename="Conexant 2388x Video capture" devid="ven_14f1&amp;dev_8800&amp;subsys_86061462&amp;rev_05">

also, go down a bit further for the card, and change the %audioencoder% and %videoencoder% to reflect your installed encoders...

Code:
        <filter cat="videncoder" name="%videoencoder%" checkdevice="false"></filter>
        <filter cat="audencoder" name="%audioencoder%" checkdevice="false"></filter>

if you installed the PVR software, then the encoders are installed...
i changed mine to:

Code:
        <filter cat="videncoder" name="InterVideo Video Encoder" checkdevice="false"></filter>
        <filter cat="audencoder" name="InterVideo Audio Encoder" checkdevice="false"></filter>

if i can get the remote and radio working, i'll post that here as well.

Make sure your hardware ID's the same, it may be a different revision than mine was, i've since moved on to a newer hauppage card, so i no longer have this particular card installed...

to find out the revision of your card is pretty straight forward though

1) go to START > Right-click on My Computer > Properties
2) Click on the Hardware tab
3) click Device Manager
4) find your tuner card in the list of hardware under Sound, Video, and Game controllers
5) Right-click on the MSI card, and select Properties
6) go to the Details tab
7) In the dropdown list, select Hardware Ids (May also be the Device Instance Id, can't remember)

compare what you have there, with what's in your XML file.. Like i said, the revision number may be different for your card than it was for mine.

This was all done from memory, so if i got something wrong, feel free to post it so others may benefit from it.

:D
