Multi seat question (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a pc in my living room that has my movies and a tv tuner card and connected with the tv.
I installed mediaportal on it (single seat because I did everything on there)
Now I have another computer where I want to want tv and my movies (in mediaportal)

I installed mediaportal client on it and set as tv server the name of my pc in the living room.
I can watch tv from both pcs now.
The problem is that I don't see my movies.
I use moving pictures on my livingroom pc and there all covers, ... are stored.

Do I need to install every plugin on my second pc and configure everything too?
Because it was a lot of work importing all my movies and series and configuring the covers, ...
Or did I do something worng?

The simple answer is yes, you will have to do it all over again.... But I do remember a while back that there was a discussion going on about sharing the movie-database across clients, so perhaps you can search the moving-pictures forum for more detail....they might have solved the problem

Thats not so good.
I hope there will be something soon where a client loads everything from the server pc.
From config to skins and plugins.
For now i will import it on my second pc too

There's a workaround in the MP wiki.

Take a look at it and give it a try ... make a backup of your database files

I use it for a while now and never saw any problem.

install moving pictures in your new computer.

if the path for the movie directory are in the form " \\computer1\movies"

then just copy the database file from one computer to the other.

there are still some settings you may need to check but most of the stuff will be ported.

you can also copy the thumbs folder to avoid having to donwload all covers again.
