With the size of actual harddisks, place doesn't matters so much for recordings.
Could it be possible to change the way the recording process works to make it record two (or more) shows that are close enough (with paddings) and on the same channel in only one file, I mean like our good old VHS recorder

It could only add a field in the DB telling the start time of the show within the file, and with a little checking code delete the file only once the last show has been deleted in "Recorded TV"...

Like that, no more loss between shows !

This would be great! There is one channel that has a block for two hours with different programs. The problem is that they seldom keep start and endtime inside the block! Recording several programs into one block (or file) would be perfekt!

You could of course use the manual recording. But if this recording does not correspond to exactly one show, the recording is not visible in EPG. If I set a two hour recording manually, I would like to se it in the EPG. Today it is only visible in the list of recording.
