Hi, It's been a couple of months now in the making, but now I've really started building my first HTPC. This of course works fine, I've got a Sapphire HD 3870X2 graphics card for offloading all the work to the 2 onboard GPUs. A nice AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with 8GB Ram running on a Windows 64bit Vista Ultimate. "Please ignore the Vista Ultimate part as I was going to start by using ProgDVB with DVBsBridge but then I fell on this piece of beautiful software." Back to my baby :D ... I reused my silverstone LC14 and added a Blu-Ray Player in there. I was blown away by the quality of Spider Man 3, my very first Blu-Ray Disc :o . I had to download the latest patches for WinDVD as it was only playing in 1080i. Now comes the questions for phase 2 :S ... Does anyone know what the system limit is on the number of DVB card at the MP level. I am planning on installing a full MP system for the house that I will buy, this lead me to look at Single Board computers (SBC) and Backplanes that can take upto 18 PCI cards :D . Something to think about.... I am currently building, on the side, a SAN server, I know it sounds expensive, well it isn't. If you type OpenFiler in google, there is an opensource SAN OS that is compatible with iSCSI. This means that as long as you have spare SATA connections, you will be able to just expand and expand your Disk space. I though this might be some food for thought ;) I will start posting some pics with the evolution of the system. peace out. :D
