Hi,

I just reinstalled my setup and now I have the TV server running on windows home server in the back room.
It appeared to be working ok, albeit channel changes were very slow (around 10 seconds) but it was working.

I don't know what has happened but now I get constant no video/audio on all of my clients.

Cards are a Terratec 2400iDT and a FloppyDTV (all are DVB-T)
I transferred everything to the back end and felt confident enough after using MP for more than a year.

Must be something really silly that I am missing. It's obviously the server, are there server logs anywhere?

Thanks for any help.

Paul.

    Hello pmcguire,

have you turned off all kinds of firewalls ?

    TV-Servers logs usually are inside "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal TV Server\log"

I cannot see anything unusual in this log except for long tuning times. What have you done during taking this log (Tune in via server itself or a client) ?

    Some things you should test:

    1. Does playback work on the server itself ?
    2. Can you see a picture on your clients if you use VLC ? If so, have a look at your clients logs.

VLC seems to work, but channel changing is very very slow.
This has been working fine earlier, really confused about this.

    More logs.

    pmcguire,

I noticed that you are streaming from Z:\... I suspect this is a networked folder rather than a subst.. Have you tried having your TV Server stream to C:\... somewhere?

I don't think there's a need for a network share to watch TV on the client (minnd you I'm guessing as I run a single seat setup) as the TV server uses a non-filesystem streaming protocol to send the audio/video to the client.

I'm just wondering if there's a domain naming issue with the Z: share. This may be the reason for extremely slow channel changes and file open/closes..

Guys, thanks for the replies, all the firewalls are off.
Z:\ is a real disk, but point taken I have seen problems in other things when drive letters are so high.

I will move it to F:\ and see if it helps.

    Will be back soon.

    1. The server machine doesn't have a screen, it is purely the server only. (to add to this sometimes the manual control button gives the same error message. It's dificult to explain I will grab a screenshot soon.)
    2. I see somthing using VLC but no always, also changing channels takes about 2 minutes.

Screenshot of the same error on the server.

    pmcguire,

Your screenshot shows that you cannot preview the channel. This has nothing to do with client/server stuff as you're previewing the channel on the server.

Thus this particular screenshot shows a tuning/codec issue on the server. This may/may not be your client side issue.

    Best Regards
