Hey Guys,

Firstly great bit of software i have however one question that i don't seem to be able to find an answer for i have the following storage for my movies;

Movies: /movies/movie.name(year)/movie.name(year).extension

Tv Shows: /tv shows/tv.show.name/tv.show.name.extension

Anime /tv shows/tv.show.name/tv.show.name.extension

Is this the recommended file naming schema for MediPortal?

Thanks
Richard

Hello Ray,

Thanks for the image, my movies look pretty much the same as yours but the tv shows are confusing me a little bit.

From what i can see you naming convension goes something like this;

/Tv Shows/Series Name/Season Number/Episode

Is this correct so something like this: Stargate SG-1-10x2-Morpheus.mkv is the second episode in the tenth series is that right?

Brilliant :D Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I am using IMDB for my movies
TheTVDB for my tvshows
AnimeDB for my anime

Thanks for your prompt response
Richard

    It doesn't really matter how you name stuff if you use TV Series and MovingPictures. For instance, I don't bother having the year in the movie name since this will get pulled from IMDB anyway (though I guess it would help with conflict resolution).

    I've also given up having separate folders for TV Show seasons. I just put all the episodes (correctly named) into one dir for the series and it works perfectly well.

    Also I recommend using TVEpisodeRenamer for TV Shows. You link the shows to their TVBD entry and then it'll rename all the files to any format you like including episode titles. It's a little unintuitive though, quick guide is Tools->Select Show and find the show then Tools->Smart Load to load your series dir, then Tools->Rename Files.

    I do use MovingPictures which seems to be working really well for me so far...it picks up anything i drop into my movie folder with no problems :)

    So you still list them '/tv shows/tv series/episode name.extension?

    I hadn't seen this, i will take a look tonight neither had i seen or known of TV Series so i will check that out tonight too :)

    Should have mentioned renamer, but out of habit name them myself.

    Regarding plugins, most probably easier to install StreamedMP skin, which gives you the main plugins for MP, then you can add too if you wish.

    Thanks, i would install StreamedMP but is it going to increase the CPU usage as i have had skins on previous software kane my processor and almost bring the UI to a hault.

    You can install it, but who said you have to use it ;)

    If you want a skin that looks good but not high on gpu\cpu, the black glass skins take a bit of beating.
