AFAIK the internal VMR9 player isn't designed for the playback of web streams and so it has no real caching strategy. On the other hand MP uses WMP for the playback of web streams, which I don't like.MPlayer has also some disadvantages. Personally I think that the PQ of the internal player is better and seeking works like a charm etc.So it is the choice of the user, which player he/she wants to use. The plugin gives you only the possibility to use a different player like the internal player. Also you can use it beside the internal player as a real alternative by just switching to a different gui plugin. Sure it would be better if MP would have a hierarchy of all players and tries to play a file based on this hierarchy with every player or if the user could change the player in MP directly. But this would require a major change in the core of MP, since the whole player factory/control is in the core. I hope this explains my motivation for this plugin.MisterD</blockquote>
