The gui plugin of My MPlayer therefor adds a fake extension to the filename. The result is that the player factory always selects MPlayer as player.The OnlineVideo plugin could of course do the same, but this is out of my control, because it has to be done in the OnlineVideo plugin. Gregmac knows about this possibility, but didn't implemented such a feature.In my opinion MP should have the possibility to change the player within MP and/or define a standard plugin for each plugin.
