Hi, I have recently starting using My Music. I currently have 297 Music Folders and find that the UI is very slugging when transitioning to the next page in any view! Im not using a database view, I use icons and big icons for my presentation with album art coming from a folder.jpg in every folder.

Is this a limitation with Media Portal I, I have tested this on several PCs and is not very good. I have the same list in my XBOX using XBMC and its silky smooth. I also tried the UNIX version and was also silky smooth.

Is this something known and will be resolved? As you can see my Hardware is very fast relative to the xbox's. I can do some performance counters in perfmon if that will help the developers. I suspect CPU usage is very high when doing this but have not confirmed on my main HTPC only my development box.

I have tested using xface and resolve skins to rule the skins out. Machine CPUs tested on: (4400X2,E6600,1.8ghzCentrino)

    Cheers
    Damien

    Hi,
If the music it's located on another computer it will be slow when not using db, you should try to scan them to db & test, if it's still slow attach your mediaportal.log to your post..

    Regards
    Roy

I prefer not to use the database view as it would take forever for me to correct my id3 tags :(.

I use the local drive for my music on my dev pc, and network share for the other pc's (gigabit network).
Note: the same setup exists for my xbox as well without this issue.

I have attached the logs, from my dev pc which has the local drive for the music.

I noticed 50% cpu usage on a dual core when scrolling through the list. I will test title database view for the sake of it but may take a while to setup. I guess I can test with what ever it can pick up initially (been meaning to fix up my music tags for ages).

    Cheers,
    Damien
