    Hi all,

because the soon coming MediaPortal Relaise, Windows 7 and the Problems with my actual hardware and just because i want to have a new, nice HTPC i just thinking about the component that i will use in it.

In the last days and many googeling i decide to use a complete new set-up:

    Case: Antec Fuction Remote Silver
Case cooler: change the Antec original coolers with 2 x COOLINK Lüfter SWiF2-120P
    Mainboard: ASUS P7H55-M Pro, H55 Sockel 1156
    CPU: Intel Core i5 650 2x3.20GHz So1156 BOX
CPU cooler: Scythe Ninja Mini Rev. B (SCMNJ-1100) (maybe without fan, will see the temperature)
    RAM: G.Skill 4GB KIT RipJaws PC3-10667 DDR3-1333 CL8 RM
GPU: PowerColor Radeon HD 5750 PCS 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe
Storage: WD Caviar Green 750GB SATAII 32MB
Power: be quiet Pure Power 350W ATX 2.3 (BN104)
Satellite Card: TeVii S470 DVB-S2 PCIe
Cable Card: my old Technotrend C-1500
Disc Drive: my old LG HDDVD/BluRay Combo

    Case
I decide to change to the cheaper Antec Fusion because my money and its also a nice case for me who can handle normal PCI Cards.

    CPU / Mainboard
I have read many good news about this CPU and thing its perfect for me. Its very energy save and when needed its have many Power for example the Wii Emulator to play my Wii Games in HD :)

    GPU
The new 5750 Series are very good, powerfull and also energy save GPUs. I will take the PowerColor PCS variant to have a very low noise GPU.

I thing this is the end set-up and i will order the parts soon.

    EDIT
    Order done!

Re: My new OrigenAE S10V HTPC Plan

    Hi,

I'am already using a S16T for MP Server/Client and a S16V for an additional MP client. If I have to make a choice between a S10V or S14V I would choose the S14V, especially if you are consindering the usage of an external GFX card.

I think you could find at least 2 other thread with a S10V and at least one that reports temperature issues in combination with an external GFX card.

    Regards,

AW: Re: My new OrigenAE S10V HTPC Plan

My first idea was also choice the bigger S14V. And when i thing about it its maybe the better choice.
    - must not buy expensive Slot-in BluRay Disc Drive (BluRay is a need for me)
    - more flexibility with TV-Cards, Extra GPU and CPU cooling (can use my old two TV PCI Cards)
    - better handling temperature issues.

But for my feel and look this case is too big for me.
In my TV Board i have only 15,5 cm that will be work, because this case have 15cm, but its very close.
And the other thing is that i don't like the look of the bigger S14V. The S10V looks nicer for me.
When the temperature issues are big, i don't buy a extra GPU Card, i thing for games like FIFA, SF4 and some other GamePad games the OnBoard HD4200 will be enough. The important thing is that this is a HTPC to use it to watch TV, DVD, BluRay, record some TV, hear music on 95% or more of time ... and that its nearly unhearable (in normal TV Mode) and low Power use.
The "better playing Games" Option is only optional.

That is why i thing i will use the smaller S10V Case.

Re: My new OrigenAE S10V / S14V HTPC Plan

I have a S10V with the following configuration

    Memory:2048MB (2x1024MB) DDR2 PC6400 CorsairXMS2

HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar GP SATA II

    MB: Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H s775 mATX HDMI, s775

    CPU: Intel Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz 800MHz

    GPU: ATI 4350 (fanless)

I managed to lower my full height PCI DVB-T card by cutting the backplate.

And I am very pleased with it.

What about the loudness of the System? Are the original Fans from the orinen good?

Very interesting are the new Intel I5 35nm CPUs! But very expensive :/

Re: My new OrigenAE S10V / S14V HTPC Plan

I would say that the fans are quite good (I do no plans on exchanging them). If you listen carefully then you can hear them when the room is quiet. I don't know if it's the CPU fan or the case fans, but when you start to play movies or music I can't hear them.

If you only plan on using it as a media center, then you don't need a better CPU. But I would recommend you to by an external GPU, since It has better power for deinterlacing and can handle 5.1 via HDMI. (Also you can upgrade it when the new inexpensive radeon 5350 comes). If you buy an external GPU then you don't need a expensive MB.
