    I could not download this file... Maybe you could upload to the MP website? What does this plugin do again? Lets say I usually have my shows set up for 1 min Pre and Post record... if it see's a show that is right next to the first show, it adjusts it to be 0? This sounds pretty cool. Does this correct the conflict issue in the scheduled shows if there is an overlap? Usually when you have pre and post settings set up and you have 2 shows that overlap, it shows a conflict. I would really like to see this added to MP in the future... maybe the new TV engne will have something like this.

    Excuse me I didn't tried from here.

    To download this file, you must use right-click -> save as.

    You described my plugin much better than me ;)

    For example you have the following datas :

    prepadding : 5 minutes
    postpadding : 10 minutes

    And we have to recordings :

    Stargate SG-1 : 20h40->21h25
    Stargate Atlantis : 21h30->22h10

    With the paddings, real recordings will be the following :

    Stargate SG-1 : 20h35->21h35
    Stargate Atlantis : 21h25->22h20

    You can see an overlap, because the first recording will end five minute after the programmed start without paddings, so you will maybe have a part of the second recording on the first file

    What does my plugin : (StartTime2 - EndTime1) / 2 = postpadding for the first recording and prepadding for the second

    In my example :
    (21h30 - 21h25) = 5 minutes
    5 / 2 = 2.5
    -> postpadding1 = 2 minutes
    -> prepadding2 = 3 minutes

    With the calculated paddings :

    Stargate SG-1 : 20h35->21h27
    Stargate Atlantis : 21h27->22h20

    No more overlap ! :D

    I forgotted one thing :

    this plugin is fully working but not complete (you can see that in the plugin's settings), the goal is to automatically merge recordings that are very close to have only one file for many programs.

    I already have done the biggest part of this feature, but I still have some bugs and it is now disabled.

    Great thoughts. Finally someone to take up the issue, which has been discussed before, but:

    - The optimal solution for "overlapping" or close recordings would be to record the same contents to both files. What if (as sometimes happens) your SG1 starts a bit late and in reality ends 21h30? Then you would have the last 3 minutes in the Atlantis file. It would be better to record the time from 20h25 to 20h35 in both files

    btw. I do not think that anybody sets an overlap as you defined, that is what post- & pre is for, so usualle times will be 20h40 - 21h30 sg1, 21h30 - 22h20 Atlantis, and 5 min Pre & Post would catch if the shows are early or late).

    But maybe your still disabled code takes care of that?! I will see if I can have a go.

    This is sort of a different problem, as you are only talking about the case where they are on the same channel. Better to get the general case working first, I think.

    My hopes are that the new TV engine will make this un-necessary (sorry).
    From Frodo's early comments the TV engine will be able to record different shows that are on the same DVB-t stream. If thats the case then hopefully it can do the same for two shows on the *same* stream.
    Someone on the News item on the home page posted that I was mistaken and recording simultaneous streams would not be supported in the new TV engine, which confused me as it had been mentioned a few times, by Frodo and others.

    Maybe a tester or dev can comment? this may save you a lot of work on a plugin that may not be needed in the not too distant future.

    If not, then I agree that this is a great plug in. In Australia our networks suck in just about every way. One major problem is that most channels run around ten minutes late. I have a ten minute post record and still lose the end of some shows.

    My ideal solution would be to monitor the "Now and Next" information in the DVB EPG stream. When this changes then the program has really finished. A long time ago m-Pod said this was not possible. Maybe something has changed now?

    Does this actually work in Australia? On my set top box, at least, the EPG data from the antenna has no relation to what they are actually showing. When a show runs overtime it just starts showing information for the next show as the "Now showing". Maybe it is just an issue with my set top box?

    Please keep in mind, not everbody has got a digital TV-Card.;)

    Dedicated developers are always welcome. And as long as their work will
