To Reproduce:
Set Clock + Time to the day before daylight saving comes into effect.
Start up MP.
Schedule a recording that spans over the DST change. In the UK this is currently at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday (+1 hour) in March and the last Sunday in October (-1 hour).
Recording spanning the DST change is terminated prematurely when the clock goes forward (in this case).
Presumably, recordings on the last Sunday in October (in the UK) will also have a problem.

This is a problematic issue, because some TV-Guides take DST into effect. And thus, if you fix this in the program you could end up with another extra hour of recording. This of course is probably better than stopping the recording early.

Now at least they have 6 months to come up with a fix... I don't think it will be high priority.

You mean there are TV Guides that contain a start time without DST, and then an end time with DST and vice-versa?

Presumably it's possible to identify those guides and work around them?

Most systems I've worked on store logs / time events as UTC and then present times to the user with offsets added/removed automatically. That said, most systems I've worked on are Unix/Linux based and use the zoneinfo layers.

Shouldn't MediaPortal's representation be UTC - including all the stuff in the program guide - and only shown to the user according to their local time?

This cannot already be the case, MP must be using localtime for start/end of programmes which I'd consider to be incorrect

The problem is, that MP does indeed follow the system time, but your TVGuide.xml has not updated. So you need to schedule an extra xmltv update directly after the DST change has gone into effect. Otherwise that file still contains the old times, whereas your computer has switched to the new time.

Possibly MP can trigger such an update schedule by itself right after a DST change goes into effect.
