I have not been able to directly play DVD movies from within MP RC3 & RC4. Anyone else encountered such a problem?

I know the DVD drive is fine, because I am able to watch via WinDVD7 and WMP10. I have tried different codecs in MP and I get the same effect, which is the HDD light flashing and then the screen goes black. There is no sound and vision and MP locks out, unless you open the draw and remove the disc. MP takes you back to the menu.

BTW under RC2 I was able to watch DVDs and never had a problem.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Well I did look briefly the other day and there was certainly no error log. I wonder if that's because MP locked out and I had to reset (before it had a chance to write to the log).

I will check again when I get home and let you know any findings.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

an additional question: Does only opening the DVD tray help. Or can you hit STOP ("b") to come back to MP? Do you hear the remote clicks?

    Same here...

Everything apears to be working fine. But when I try top play a DVD I get no picture or sound. I can exit to the menu again and the thumbnail video image is also black.

    My log show this:

    (error.log)
    2/06/2006 8:42:06 AM DVDPlayer:GetCurrentSubpicture() failed

I am able to play DVDs on the same machine in VLC player.

    Any ideas?

I have the same thing but I was able get around it by trying out different Codecs. I am thinking it also matters from which you are coming when starting DVD.

That means I am in TV using Codec XXX starting DVD using Codec YYY.

(Besides of that I am having blue screens from time to time that seem to be caused by the kind of sound stream. And for sure there still is the problem that DVD navigation is not working ok with some DVD's)

All of that is very annoying

[if you are interested I can post which Codecs exactly I am using when I am at home]

    thanks+regards
