Hi there,

my system crashes when using ASIO Sound. Im allways playing complete albums. After the last title mp crashes. Using bass player with upmix 5.1 it works fine. Don't know anything about driver quality of M-Audio Revolution. It exists only one release ?!

I get the same problem. It happens after MP has been playing music for an hour and a half or so over ASIO.
I have been able to reproduce it a second time.

    Greetings Symphy.

I've had the same crashes. I switched the ASIO Plugin instead and now everything is fine.

But! Just because there is a different plugin that can handle it, it is no reason to ignore the bug.
For me it happened in intervals between 20-60+ minutes. Maybe a buffer overflow or something?

    I've attached my logs.

    From error.log
    Code:
    2007-09-13 18:46:26.156250 [ERROR][14]: MediaPortal: Unhandled exception occured

at Un4seen.BassAsio.BassAsioHandler.DefaultAsioOutputCallback(Boolean input, Int32 channel, IntPtr buffer, Int32 length, Int32 user)

It would be cool if Symphy's code could be implemented to handle ASIO instead... if that is at all possible?

I've had these crashes occurring in RC2, so if a moderator could please move this thread to RC2 bug reports please?

    Thanks

    MP crashes with BASS error

When ASIO is enabled Mediaportal will crash after playing approximately 10 flac files.

    My configuration is as follows:

    MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3 RC2 + 16065
    Windows Version: Windows XP Pro
CPU Type: Core 2 Duo mobile T5500
    Memory: Kingston
    Motherboard: MSI 945 GT
    Motherboard Chipset: Intel
    Motherboard Bios:
    Video Card: Onboard
Video Card Driver: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 6.14.10.4421
    Sound Card: Prodigy 7.1 HIFI
    Sound Card Driver: v1 1.02
    1. TV Card: ATI 550

Have tried to play using Foobar2000 with ASIO enabled and have currently been unable to produce an error, so it seems like a bug in the BASS engine.

I am getting the following error in the event log:

    "01-10-2007 23:17:56";".NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting";"(0)";"Error";"EventType clr20r3, P1 mediaportal.exe, P2 0.2.2.9991, P3 46fd8780, P4 bass.net, P5 2.3.1.2, P6 460fa737, P7 b5, P8 e, P9 system.nullreferenceexception, P10 NIL.";"5000"

    and

    in the mediaportal log.

The same error occurred in a clean install of RC2, which is why I tried a SVN build.

BASS ASIO still crashes MP. Just for the sake of it I tested the BASS ASIO with MediaPortal-svn--10-01-2007--01-02-Rev16081 and after 3 songs MP crashed.
    I've attached my logs.

    What I did:
Go to My Music -> Album folder -> Pressed play to play entire folder.
    3 songs later MP crashed.

    Logs attached

I haven't seen it crash yet, but in the last svn I've tried I get distortion while playing MyMusic using the bassplayer. Actually, I do not think I've tried to play more than a couple at a time the distortion is so bad. Playing music outside of MP works fine. I get no issues with sound in MyTV or Videos.

Well I also have problems with the sound quality using AISO in MP. I get random scratch noises when playing from MP similar to the sounds you can get from playing and old record. The isn't any such noise in Foobar2000. I have observed that when using MP all 6 channels in my sound card control panel is active. Using Foobar2000 only 2 channels are active. I don't know if that can have any influence on the problem.

    Regards, Jens
