I'd like to see a MythTv-client as a replacement (or addition to) the TvClient plugin.
The reason for this is simple - I have a setup with an existing MythTV-server and several clients.
Hovever - I really like MediaPortal, and have been using it on my mediaPc running vista. (Since i am unable to get decent quality w/ 'nux on my mediaPc - Ati X1250.)
The server runs MythTv-backend virtualized under OpenVZ, along with several other vm's. So it's not an option to change the server to windows.
There is an opensource player: MythTvPlayer for windows which performs perfectly in my setup: MythTv Player
Source: MythTv Player - Source code
MythTv Protocol: MythTv Player - MythTv Protocol
Mythtv protocol examples: Using the Myth protocol - MythTV
Best of two worlds.
The way I see it, it should be possible to alter the TvClient server-interface to use mythTv-commands instead, and thus be able to populate the guide, switch channels, initiate recordings and timeshift.
If i had the skills and the time, I would attempt this task myself, but I am not a windows programmer.
Therefore I hope someone is up to the challenge...
