Are you really running MediaPortal on WinXP-SP1?

I think you will find that you need SP2, with all recent Windows updates applied and the other patches listed in "Tips and Tricks", too - especially if you are using DVB.

During the last weeks we have encountered several problems with 3rd party codecs. But those issues are not always caused by MediaPortal.

    Please test it again with:
    Video Codec: mpeg2dec
    Audio Codec: mpedg/ac3/dts

If MediaPortal is still crashing try to disable the DVB-EPG Graber in MediaPortal Setup, and in MediaPortal -> Settings -> Televison -> EPG -> deselect all channels

well, I did not really count how many channel changes there were but if you need I can check it out.

another question, I changed codecs to mpeg2dec but I was absolutely not happy with it. it is faster than 3rd part codec but the quality is very bad. for a good quality it must support pixel adaptive deinterlacing.

well i have installed windvd, powerdvd and nvidia purevideo codec but all of them seem to have some issue. this is very frustrating. can you recommend any of these codecs to stick on? (for me nvidia is the fastest but will freeze mp in a black screen after some hours)

the problem is that we can not do anyhing to fix issues that happen with 3rd party codecs :(.

even Microsofts MCE2005 has issues with the nvidia codecs!

    i am still using mpeg2dec

With PowerDVD6 definately. I upgraded to PowerDVD7 and the it seems better. But MP still seems to continue having problems with external codecs. Sometimes stream won't work correctly so that I either have to restart TV module or the whole program
