Background:

I have been a user of mediaportal for a long time now and actually wrote a MyRolodex plugin a few years ago. I have been following the progress of MP2 for awhile now and have my vision for how I would love to see MP2 skin.
I don't have a lot of details worked out yet, but I do have a rough concept I can describe along with an excel sheet to help understand.

The Vision:

I envision a skin that is preconceived with plugins in mind to keep a very organized system. I by nature am a very organized and structured person so that is how I would forsee my digital life as well. I call my skin the MyWorld skin it would start off with a main home screen listing the following four main categories:

MyLife - The MyLife when clicked would bring up another option list to select from plugins that are used to either organize or inform me of events (details listed in excel file)

MyEntertainment - The MyEntertainment when clicked would bring up another option list to select from plugins that are used to display any of my digital media (details listed in excel file)

MyNetwork - The MyNetwork when clicked would bring up another option list to select from plugins that are used to display data related to either that specific PC or the network in general (details listed in excel file)

MyHome - The MyHome when clicked would bring up another option list to select from plugins that are used to display
data or control my home such as home automation and security (details listed in excel file)

I have just started work on both the main skin ideas along with the high priority plugins (MyContacts,MyChat,MyMail,MyKitchen, and MyCalendar) that do not exist yet. I have use cases and am starting to write class diagrams for the plugins listed under development in the excel file.

I am also wondering since I just don't have time obviously to write everything who would be interested in helping and as to what the status is on some of the major plugins that will be used in the skin such as Moving Pictures, MP-TVSeries, OnlineVideos (is there plans and how soon to port to MP2).

Finally if anyone has any other ideas suggestions for the layout or additional plugin requests please let me know. As soon as I get more information worked out I am more than willing to share diagrams of what I have. I love working with MP2 and hope to add some functionality upon release.

THANKS

    Hi hardcorehire,

great to see you are interested in MP2.

Currently there is no one (yet) working to port MovingPictures or TVSeries to MP2.
offbyone is already working to port his onlineVideos to MP2.

I would suggest you to get in touch how skinning works in MP2 and trying to modify current plugins and menus in the way you want it to.

    cheers
    Tommy
