Hi folks...

I'm now very nearly there with building our house and are planning on moving in at the weekend. My HTPC has been in the planning stages for over a year now and the day is coming where I can deploy it!!!

Heres the setup (any comments?)....

Display: Toshiba 32WL66 LCD TV (Wall mounted)

Sound setup: Samsung 6.1 HTAS710 Surround kit (wall mounted - cables in walls)

Games: Nintendo Wii (component to TV - 480p, audio to samsung - prologic 2x!)

Now onto the fun bit....

Case: Silverstone LC16M - the one with the imon remote and display
CPU: AMD Opteron 165
Ram: 2Gb Dual Channel
Graphics: MSI NX8600GT (DVI-HDMI to Samsung)
Sound: Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect PCI (Optical to samsung)
TV: Compro VideoMate E700
Connectivity: bluetooth, wired gigabit lan
Drives: Pioneer Blu-ray SATA, 200Gb Seagate SATA2, 500gb Seagate SATA, 2x200Gb Seagate PATA
OS: Vista Home Premium
Software: Errrr.....Hmmmm... MediaPortal (TVServer 3)

I have a choice between another Compro card (PCI) and a wireless card - I only have one spare PCI slot left. The thing is that I have a wMVP that I would like to use in the upstairs bedroom on an ad-hoc network with the HTPC.

My gigabit router does wireless-n though so could possibly just use that and have three TV cards.

What do people think. If it all works out, I reckon I could be on to an absolute belter of a system!!! :D

I am jealous. A very nice advantage you have while building your house: "(wall mounted - cables in walls)
    ".

I am not convinced on the "Vista" part. I am monitoring this thread closely.

I only have one tuner, but wished for a second on a number of occasions. I guess everyone would always wish for "one more" - go for three tuners :)

Thanks for the reply. It was a moment of madness really - it basically came down to the fact that home Premium was cheaper than XP Pro!

I run Vista on my other machine (in the study - 3200+ Athlon with 1Gb and 6600 AGP graphics) and find it run quite well (although I don't really put it to task!).

I haven't yet managed to set it up properly and I imagine there will be a few hiccups along the way - there may be a problem with overscan over DVI-HDMI with my TV and I think the sound system isn't going to be plain sailing either!
