A little background can be found here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/list-keyboard-key-codes-not-shortcuts-7161/

I'm having basically the same problem. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

If I'm looking at a listing in the TVSeries plugin, I can press the "0" (zero) key on the keyboard to open a context menu for deleting the currently selected show (not the actual "Context Menu", but the menu you'd get by opening the real context menu, choosing "Actions", then "Delete"). That's just what I want, except I want to make it work from the remote.

I have no trouble getting the remote button press all the way into MP/MessagePlugin (I can prove this by mapping the button to, for instance, open the real context menu and play a sound, which works fine). But what I want is to make that remote button press emulate pressing the "0" key on the keyboard.

I assume all I need to do is change the mapping action from "Context Menu" (for example) to "Key Press" and enter some magical numbers in the "Key" fields. But what the hell are the magical numbers? The poster in the referenced thread (as well as a few other threads I found) has the same question and doesn't appear to have received any real answer. Does anyone know? These are the same fields used in all the remote control mapping dialogs, so I assume they all use the same magical numbers.

I've tried entering 48 in the first field (second left blank) as this is ASCII code and virtual keycode for "0", but that doesn't work. I have no idea what the second field is used for. The MP wiki is noticeably quiet on the topic. Can anyone shed some light on this? Please?

    Hi mmf1981

You are meant to fill in only one of the fields - the other field should be set to 0.
The first field allows you to choose an [ASCII] character code.
The second field allows you to choose a virual key code. These are defined by Microsoft -->here<--.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi mm1352000,

thx for the answer, I already tried ASCII (both lower and uppercase) before after extensively searching the forums. I will give the VKs a try :)

I tried the ASCII-Code (in my case for y und Y). You're not able to enter non-numerical values into the input fields.

I'd like to toggle the OSD via the simulated press of Y, as the standard-button is just mapped to show it (but not to hide it with the same button).

I'll try and come back at you for feedback.

Ok, so I tried both the VKs (in the second input field of the IRTrans-buttons) for O (in my case ARC == VK 79) and Y (OSD == VK 89) and they are not working. I can hear that the buttons trigger, but no action so far. The first field was 0.

I tried the ASCII (upper and lowercase) in the first input field, second was 0. Not working. I tried combinations of empty field ands filling in three numbers (e.g. 089, or 079).

This feature is not working! (for me at least ;))

    Hmmmm

This really is not my area of specialty (I had to check the code and search for at least half an hour to even answer your first post! ;)) - I'm not able to provide any further insight. I hope one of the other devs who specialises more in the MP client can help you.

If you look at the keyboard mappings, 0 is mapped to an action of remote 0. I think you need to just map whatever button you want to this action

Sorry, don't understand your post. I am only able to put in numbers, and I want to map Y.
