Hi,
I need to develop a 'cut down' version of MP for a local school. They require the TvServer functionality, and have a number of clients running off this.
As it's for a school environment, they need to have the UI stripped down to just the TV functionality (Live TV, recording, playback of recordings, etc) on the client side.
However, I'm having a little problem in running the compiled version of MP as a client (I have a TV server/client set up).
Prior to compiling the source, I tested my set up with the precompiled builds (ie. installing MP 0.2.2.0, then latest SVN and finally the TvServer plug in). This seemed to work fine - ie. It connected to the TV server and I got video, epg and channel data fine.
However, if I compile from source (and install the TvPlugin over the top), all I get is a blank image and no audio in place of the TV. The client connects and shows up the EPG fine though.
Do the installers do anything extra, that I should be aware of?
Someone suggested just installing MP as above, but copying over the compiled version over the top. This just causes MP to crash on startup.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get the compiled version working with the TvServer?!
I really only need to make GUI changes to the whole thing, so do I actually need to fiddle with the source code? Or should I opt to develop a plugin that does this? (not sure if a plugin would allow me to replace the menu system, with a simpler alternative)
Any pointers on any of the above would help me a great deal!
FYI, I'm fairly new to C# coding (although a veteran C++ programmer!).
Cheers,
Taz.
