need to pick a tuner for my HTPC build up (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I am currently building my first HTPC and I really could use some help picking the right tuner card.

My system uses PCI with Windows XP. I already have an RF remote on order so I don't need one with the card.

I am looking to tune over the air (OTA) antenna channels (I receive over 20) and record. I may want to upgrade to basic cable in the future and it would be beneficial if the card could tune and record cable as well.

I am currently looking at the Hauppauge Win-TV-HVR-1600 as an option. Will this work well with all features of Media Portal? Can it tune OTA TV as well as cable?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How did you go with this? I am thinking about (*finally*) adding a tv card to my setup and I'm interested in what other people are using. There's such a range as far as price goes and I don't want to end up with something crappy.

I am still sorting out a problem with my graphics card driver to get its TV out functionality working so I've been holding off on the TV card. I am still thinking the Hauppauge 1600 or possibly the V-Box DT150 card. From my research on the forum here, it seems both cards play well with MediaPortal although it is hard to find any info for USA users.
