I am planning on building a little ITX system to hang on the back of my TV to be MP client, but I would want it to be able to manage analog TV (cable). I started looking for a USB tuner, but the only one with hardware encoder I found so far is Hauppauge HVR-1950. Searching for it on the forum didn't yield too many useful info.

Does anyone have experience with HVR-1950? Does it work with MP?

Is there any other USB tuner that I can use? The system is going to be ION+Atom 330, so I want hardware encoding in the actual device - not sure whether Atom 330 will be able to handle software encoding.

Thanks!

Definitely seems to work for Digital QAM, but it's not working for Analog yet. I have an old Analog card so I might just drop that in and see if it works.

[Edit a few hours later...]

I see now. I didn't really understand exactly what "hybrid card" meant. I understood that the analog and digital tuners on board both took their feed from the same antenna. But what I did not realize is that Mediaportal only supports one or the other.

I disabled the 'digital' device (it's one physical device but shows up as two logical devices) and then I was able to use the analog device.

There might be better ways to work than this (I decided to deploy the stable release 1.0.2)

I'm really liking what I see in Mediaportal. I'd like to see this fixed, but I just read somewhere else that future versions may be Windows 7 only, and that's a whole other consideration.
