Please help, I will donate. So much info out there and get into the weeds.

CURRENT CONFIG:

  • I have an Older UnSmart TV (RCA-Great TV) with AMAZON FIRESTICK on HDMI2.

  • Have downloaded most of the APPS like TUBI, HULU, DISCOVERY, PLUTO, etc. Have not subscribed to any of them yet. Only can view the free ones. We are still trying to find our regular programs that we currently record on DTV (HDMI3).

  • DTV is hooked up to HDMI3. I want to drop DTV and go STREAM full time.

  • Not hooked up to any antenna.
NEEDED CRITERIA:

  • RECORD & SCHEDULE SERIES PROGRAMS such as NCIS, DR.PHIL, OAK ISLAND, Newsmax, etc.. ON THE TV to WATCH ON TV.

  • RECORD ON THE SPOT & WILL RECORD TO BEGINNING IF APPLICABLE.

  • MUST PAUSE, REWIND, SKIP COMMERCIALS (while I have time saved up by watching rewinded content by about an hour, I assume, like my current situation).

  • DITTO NEW CONFIGURATION for HUSBAND UPSTAIRS.
Q1: What hardware do I need?

Q2: Is Media Portal applicable to my situation?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS & ASSIDUOUS.

Patty

Sorry to disappoint you but Media Portal only offers recording and scheduled recording for TV broadcast over SAT, Cable or OTA. It does support viewing of some streamed content, Netflix and Amazon Prime I believe and a host of free content dependant on your location, e.g. BBC in the UK and German Channels in Germany via the Online Videos plugin.
Looking at your criteria I doubt Media Portal will meet your requirements, but maybe someone else here has a more positive message.

That might be due to MPWebStream starting the timeshifting on the request of the m3u file, and XBMC requesting the file multiple times. I'm not sure though. However, this is ancient software which I don't maintain anymore. You should consider switching to the newer MPExtended and/or WebMediaPortal.

ok, Layer 8 Problem... It's been a time, since I assembled a PC, so I did not know, that I have to connect a 2nd power cable to the Mainboard... Now it is running, but I am still waiting for my TV card. I'll upgrade as soon as it arrived and I managed to make it work.
