Synopsis:

First off I would like to say how fantastic MediaPortal is! Keep up the good work everyone....but... I have been having very regular problems with .net framework MediaPortal crashes. Seemingly randomly (certainly no reason i can see) MediaPortal crashes with your standard "we appologise but this app has died" message. All crashes are logged in event viewer as .net errors. I have reinstalled windows so i have a clean system, installed .net 1.1 followed by .net 2.0. Tried just .net 2.0, I have switch almost every option in MediaPortal on and off to see if I can track the error down but so far with no luck. Any help will be much appreciated! I love this program...

Event Log Errors are as follows:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A05E2B3) (80131506)

Faulting application mediaportal.exe, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 44dc9ce7, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42, stamp 4333e7ec, debug? 0, fault address 0x0019e9c8. [<-- mostly it appears to be mscorwks.dll but can also be other dll files]

Cheers,

Barny.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I've started getting these exact error messages in my Windows Event logs. This is after a fresh install of WinXP Pro, MP 0.2.2.0 + latest SVN.

There were no replies to this original thread, but I thought maybe someone else is getting these errors and/or might know how to fix them.

Cheers
Rich

    hi gemx,

I can't honestly say that I have noticed a specific problem occurring with MP in conjunction with the above errors, however I'm working on the assumption that any error such as this can't be good for overall system stability.

I'm not around my MP PC at the moment, but when I get home I'll try and look at the MP logs corresponding to the time of the rror and see if anything funny is going on.

    cheers

ok... here's an update on my above posts. I got home tonight and saw another set of the of the .NET errors in my Event Logs - those already listed above AND a new one :(

    In sequence they were:

    17.54.13 [<--TIME OF ERROR]
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engin Error
    {7A05E2B3| |80131506}

    17:54.15
    Faulting application mediaportal.exe version 0.0.0.0, stamp 45r3466d.
faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42, stamp 433e7ec. debug?
    0. fault address 0x0007d035

    Then the new one....

    18:52.59
    Faulting application mediaportal.exe version 0.0.0.0, stamp 45r3466d.
faulting module ntdl.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, stamp 411096b4. debug?
    0. fault address 0x00010f29

Interestingly, there was no corresponding error in the MP logs linked with the errors at 17:54... BUT... MP locked up a few seconds before the last error at 18:52. I have attached the MP logs, and the immediately worrying thing that I can see is the mention of "DShowNET.Hauppauge" (see the end of the log.

I don't even use Hauppauge tuners - and I never have!

Can anyone shed any light on any of these errors? I fear my MP instability is spiraling out of control.

    Cheers
