I have not tried - mediaportal is still inproving and i have not a dedicated box running "production" yet My main htpc is still the mythtv box that lives in a closet. For programming i use its web interface and access the recordings trough filesharing (If i wants to se something live og timeshiftet i use a windows box with mce/dvbciewer/mediaportal and a projector. At home i've most often used vlc og dvbviewer to watch recordings. But i usually just copy the recordings to my laptop before leaving for work (typically away some days at a time so always nice to have something worth watchning with me :-) But it looks like its close with a dedicated mediaportal box for family... DvbSub has been the feature highest on my wishlist and a month ago i've upgraded the hardware of the windows box - asus mb with hdmi and amd x64 processor. The ati graphics should be enough for 720p (i don't expect the need for higher resolutions anytime soon) Im testing with mediaportal on the laptop and the amd with the tv engine3 as a dual seat setup. And the frontend on my laptop is more stable than the frontend on the amd-box. Yes it is close but still not stable enough for "production use" - read foolproff for family usage :-) - But i look forward to seeing the improvements with tsreader But my setup is about a week old so its about time to go to the bleeding edge again to find new bugs :-) So i continue to tinker with it until i think its "wife/children-safe". It is Transport Stream files (.ts) - mythtv just names them .mpg Have a look yourself - vlc is my favorite tool to that.
