Description:
Unicable or Single Cable Distribution (or SCR, Single Cable Routing) is a satellite TV technology that enables the delivery of broadcast programming to multiple users over a single coaxial cable, and eliminates the numerous cables required to support consumer electronics devices such as twin-tuner Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and high end receivers.

It's a peculiar technology that every free and open satellite decoder implements (ie. Linux based decos as Dreambox). So I was very surprised to find that MP does NOT support this fantastic technology that allows for instance to install more that one satellite board inside the HTPC to make the simultaneous recording on different transponders.

And as I could understand it would not be so hard to develop as it's just a matter of DiSEqC communication.

Hope to have touched the MP Development Team's hart and soul! ;-)

Hello together,

how can I install the Unicable-Support in a running MediaPortal-system? I don't want to do a complete new install.

Is the Unicable Support running with every SAT card or do I need a special SAT card with also an unicable-capable driver?

And how can I setup unicable in MediaPortal? What configuration is needed inside there?

I dont know. I know there is a softwaretool explicit for this card from the manufacturer. With this tool you can use any sowftware without modifications.

But according to this thread, it should also work within MP? Does anyone know how and if there is a special card needed?

I get my 2nd Card this week with a unicable LNB.
You selct the 4 Channels in the card utility and MP works fine without modification

It´s the manufactorer of the card - have great support and fast cahnnelswitching.
Only the CI will not work with Media-Portal (with WMC it work well).
I hope the developer add this feature fast (please).
After you install the driver for the card there is a utility where you can select the unicable support for up to 4 Tuner - so you have nothing special to select in MePo.
I bought my first card in June 2009 and my second + CI this month.

So You now have 4 inputs? (two for one card and two for the other)
Very interesting...

So if one card has two inputs and You tell the card (through the driver) to set one input to the first unicable signal and another input to the second unicable signal (for example), what does Mediaportal do?
Does Mediaportal see virtually two cards?
