Hi all,

I've been running MP for a number of years on what is now a fairly old system. I've just got a HD Ready TV (panel res 1365x768) and am now trying to put HD content through MP.

720 mkv files generally play OK but 1080 ones struggle or just don't work.

BBC or ITV HD off satellite is currently a non starter but I've got SkyHD to deal with that. If MP ends up able to play it then great, but it's not vital. It's the 1080 mkv playback that I really want.

Could a new AGP graphics card with hardware decoding breathe new life into this system or is it just too old?

Current system:
CPU: Athlon XP-M 2500 running at XP3200+ speeds
MB: NF7-S V2
RAM: 400Mhz 1GB
GFX: ATI Radeon 9800SE AIW softmod to Pro. Output via VGA @ 1360x768
PSU: 300ish Watt

I've looked on ebuyer and it looks like cards could be obtained for <£50, e.g. HD3450. This might be an affordable upgrade. A full rebuild is not :(
I'm not too bothered between ATI or Nvidia. Cheap and does the job is important ;)

If you need more system info, let me know.

Cheers :)
