This board is using the onboard x1240 ATI card to output to my panasoni Veira 42 inch plasma. I have configured it the same as my last HTPC which I upgraded from. Upscaling to 1920 x 1080 via the FFDshow resize options.

The picture quality is not as good as it was will my lat htpc which was a Nvidia based card. There must be some suggested settings or configuration that I can use to improve the output quality. I have it outputting 1080i to my Plamsa, but the picture should be more sharp that it is.

Any advice?

What is the full type description of the plasma?
    I also have a 42'' Panasonic Plasma (PV7F).
The Panel has a native resolution of 1024*720.
So i suppose you are upscaling far too high.
I use a NVIDIA 8500 based video card which produces a very nice picture.
It's connected via a DVI to HDMI cable and i use no up-/downscaling in ffdshow at all.
The Windows XP screen resolution is set to 720p and only had to adjust the screen size a bit.
It works really great with the NVIDIA pure video codec :)

    Thanks

Not sure what model Panasonic it is but I will check today to see what res it can support. Using FFDshow codecs from within media portal to output everything.

    Thanks:D

    update

    Hi,

My pixels are the same as your panasonic. However setting it to 720P did not improve the quality as I would expect. Apprears the sharpness of videos isn't on par with the Nvidia cards. Maybe it's still a configuration issue, the edges appear ghosted on images and not sharp.

I have calibrated my plasma using test screens and it has not inpact on the video output quality. I would guess that hardware accelearation is not used or something!
