I'm trying to get TVServer working for the first time. I've got to TV cards:
FireDTV SVBS2 - Kind of working ok and

Hauppauge Analog WinTV dual tuner (aka PVR MCE 500) connected to 2 external Skyboxes along with an MCE IR blaster to control the skyboxes. - This is not working because I've no idea how to configure it. Are there instructions out there?

    Thanks

    I

    Open tvserver config SETUPTV.

Goto 'tvchannels' , then 'add' from the view, use the edit channel box views 'analog' and 'general' to fill in with the required info:'source' will be needed to select svhs or composite etc.

Then associated the newly created channel with your cards 'TVmapping' and 'TVgroups'.

The only requirement that you can't adjust is the TVSERVER auto graph build for your card, if it works it works if it doesn't post your logs or search the forum for specific help.

To provide a little more detail since I just went through this myself....

AFAIK, there isn't a way to automagically set up all the TV channels for your Sky subscription. I actually had to go in and manually set up each of the 100+ channels I wanted to be able to watch. When you click "Add", put the channel name under the General tab - this will be displayed in the EPG and will also be used to attempt to automatically map the channel to your EPG source. On the Analog tab, put the Sky channel number in the appropriate field and, as SciDoctor mentioned, select the appropriate source (I'm using SVHS as I have a Scart to RGB converter). That's all that needs to be completed in that dialog box.

In order to blast the channel changing to your Sky boxes, I use the IR Server Suite. See this thread for details. I've never been able to get the built-in ServerBlaster plugin to work, so go with the IR Server Suite. It's fairly straightforward, but will likely take a little trial and error to get it working right.

For the EPG, I used XMLTV with the RadioTimes grabber to get most of my Sky channels. It's not complete, but the most important ones are there. Use this with the XMLTV plugin on TV Server to import the EPG and map it to your tuner channels. I have since switched to the excellent MCE2XMLTV application for downloading the EPG. It requires you to have a Microsoft Media Center (either MCE2005 or the proper version of Vista), but it uses MCE's grabber which provides a much more complete EPG for Sky. It looks like you're using XP Pro so this might not be an option for you. In the XMLTV plugin, you'll have to point it to the tvguide.xml file generated by XMLTV and import the file. Then go to the Mapping tab and select Load. This will show your tuner channels with their corresponding XMLTV listings and will allow you to make changes. Save this when you're done and reimport the listings in the first tab.

    Good luck!
